Legal advice and referral services

Free advice on most legal matters is available by appointment at the following times and places:

                             6.00 - 7.30pm      Maroochydore

                                    6.00 - 7.30pm         Landsborough (fortnightly)

                                    6.00 - 7.30pm         Maleny (fortnightly)

Tuesday                  6.00 - 7.30pm      Maroochydore

                                     6.00 - 7.30pm         Pomona (fortnightly)

Wednesday              10.00am- 2.00pm  Maroochydore

                             6.00 - 7.30pm      Caloundra

Thursday                 6.00 - 7.30pm      Noosaville

                                    6.00 - 7.30pm     Nambour

Suncoast Community Legal Service relies on the generosity of volunteer lawyers from the local legal profession to provide these advice sessions.

Appointments are limited to fifteen minutes.  Lawyers can offer general advice and appropriate referral only.

Bookings are essential and can be made by phoning 5443 7827 during office hours. Advices will not be provided via email.

 Generalist Legal Advice

The generalist legal service supplements the work of the legal advice and referral service by providing advice in more complicated matters and assistance with particular legal tasks.  Assistance is at the discretion of the principal solicitor.  No ongoing casework is provided.

Telephone Advice Service

Advice in person is considered 'best practice' for any legal office.  However, in circumstances of physical incapacity or remoteness, telephone advice can be provided by appointment.

There is no charge for the services provide but clients are asked to consider a $5 donation towards ongoing costs.

Most services are provided by volunteer lawyers and it is up to each volunteer what level of advice or assistance they are comfortable to provide.  Clients are able to make further appointments for advice, generally from a different lawyer.

Capacity for assistance other than advice and referral is very limited and is at the discretion of the principal solicitor.  Suncoast Community Legal Service Inc. cannot represent parties in court or elsewhere.

Suncoast Community Legal Service Inc. reserves the right to refuse or limit any advice or assistance at any time for any reason.
